Women In Action

Every young girl, growing up in the lakeside villages on the shores of Lake Victoria, like everywhere else in rural Africa, is at a constant risk of sexual exposure and exploitation during their teenage years. As a result of the low levels of literacy in rural Kenya, what is a clear act of defilement in mostly shrugged off and thrown under the rug as ‘naughty/mannerless girls. In most instances, these young women are forced into early motherhood through the cunning tongues of older men who may trick them into having sex, or in the worst-case scenarios through rape.
